Heather, on the other hand, has been on a wild roller coaster. She was admitted to the hospital in Irvine last Tuesday with extremely high blood pressure. She was suffering from severe Pre-Eclampsia which can cause seizures and death of mother and baby and delivery is the only cure. She was able to hold out for 5 more days despite a transfer from the Irvine hospital, right by our apartment, to Anaheim before delivering naturally. Since then it's been up and down. She's had a CT scan, Echo Cardiogram, countless blood tests and been restricted from eating or drinking pretty much the entire time. She aspirated some fluid into her lungs during labor and delivery which caused a freak case of pneumonia. Her heart was strained to the point the Dr.s thought she might have a clot in it. However, we're past all the diagnosis and everything is looking better by the hour. Her blood pressure and heart rate are slowly decreasing and the fluid in her lungs is going away. She is a SUPER WOMAN!!! She's barely uttered a complaint throughout this entire ordeal and been so strong and brave. On top of all that, she didn't even get to see her baby boy till Monday at 10 pm because the Dr.s wouldn't clear her to go into the NICU till then. Thankfully, mother and son have spent some quality time together now. No indication as to when she'll be discharged but things are looking pretty good.
We want to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers. It has meant so much to us to know so many people out there care about us and the well being of our new family. We love you.
